Intro to Strength Principles

An all-level strength and conditioning series

This workshop will be an introduction to general strength training for all bodies/all abilities. We will focus on the five (5) main movement patterns: hinge, squat, push, press, and pull. We will also cover concepts of core training including bracing, rotation/anti-rotation, flexion (frontal and lateral), and extension. We will also discuss the basics of balance and power training as it relates to the mind-body connection (embodiment).


These items are recommended for all:


  • Wear comfortable clothing

  • A notebook or journal and pen (optional)


Livestream participants will want to have these:

  • Resistance band

  • Light dumbbells (or other weighted objects)

  • A chair or bench


This series will be recorded and available for replay until February 15th.

About Kubo (they/she)

Kubo (they/she) is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and a self-described movement and anatomy nerd. They have always had a passion for movement and building strength, as well as the connection between physical strength and mental/emotional well-being. Kubo strives to lead their classes with care and compassion and do all that they can to make sure they provide a space where participants can come to feel strong, capable, empowered, and perhaps most importantly, more at home in their own body.

Natural and synthetic scents such as essential oils and scented personal care products, laundry detergents, and perfumes cause debilitating symptoms for some of our community members. There are no requirements for this series. Masking is optional and we ask that you stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of illness.
