About Liya Leng

Qian (Liya) Leng - MD, MPH, certified yoga teacher and postpartum corrective exercise specialist.Liya's journey in yoga began 14 years ago when she completed her first teacher training with renowned hatha yoga teacher Ana Forrest while she was a student at Harvard Medical School. Since then she has completed over 800 hours of training in various modalities, including the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Floor Level 1 physical therapy course, Catherine Allen's Poppy Perinatal Yoga training, Dr. Sarah Duvall's Postpartum Corrective Exercise course, and Wendy Foster's Mamalates postnatal Pilates training. Liya specializes in postpartum exercise with a gentle yet effective approach to healing pelvic floor issues and diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles).Liya is a practicing internal medicine doctor, acupuncturist, and assistant professor of medicine at OHSU and Western University of Health Sciences. She loves reading, nature, and hanging out with her spouse, their 6-year-old daughter, and their dogs.

"Despite working out a few times a week, I still felt out of control of my body, aware that I had diastasis recti but unsure of whether my exercising was hurting me more than helping me. Liya's combination of physical therapy and yoga made me feel more confident about modifications while also teaching us great exercises and stretches to target common problems and strains of being a new mom. The classes were both a physical and mental relief."
